  • RabunYES is raising funds to send teenagers to a weekend leadership training course and to a 2.5 day advanced first aid & field responder course, each of which cost around $320, beyond reach of most families in Rabun County. Local businesses are being asked to sponsor a youth to attend a course.
  • A collaboration with the Rabun County Library has been postponed till in-class meetings are approved (post-Covid). The focus of the session will be targeted to young adults addressing financial independence from parents and establishing oneself in the real world. The full title is “Guide for Young Adults Establishing Careers.” The session will address starting a career, money and building wealth and fulfillment. Stay tuned for a date announcement; there will be no charge. In the interim, an abbreviated seminar on this topic will be made available on YouTube in early November. The URL will be pronounced on our website & Facebook page.
  • An outdoor skills day is being sponsored by RabunYES working with Scout Troop 19 on Saturday, October 30 located at the county pavilions/field down below the library between 9:00 am & 2:00 pm. A $5 contribution is requested to benefit the Scouts.
  • A Family Budgeting seminar will be offered in Tiger at the Church of Christ on Bethel Road on Wednesday evening December 15 @ 7pm. Adults as well as teenagers are invited to learn budgeting skills and methods of saving, etc. There is no charge.
  • RabunYES has field-tested a seminar in Spanish (down in Tampa, FL) on the topic of budgeting and saving for Latino families, addressing special concerns of the Spanish speaking community. The seminar will be finalized and brought to Rabun County once a venue is selected and details can be arranged; date to be announced.
  • There are three (3) potential rental sites in discussion for a youth meeting location. RabunYES is hopeful to come to an agreement by end of December. Any other solutions would be welcomed and evaluated by the Board. Contact us via RabunGA.Youth@gmail.com
